I am treating a 95 pound dog who has hip and shoulder dysplasia. Would turmeric and black pepper be recommended? How often and how much? What tricks do you use to get herbs down dogs who are picky?

i used it for my dog with arthitis and other old wounds, i make the Golden paste and put it in the frig then put 1/2 tsp in food twice a day or 1/4 tsp 2-3 times a day. it made him comfy and he could walk better so much that my husband started using it

For our ageing German Shepherd, we give her every day a tablet of Ester C (500 mg), a good fish oil, glucosamine-chondroitin, and Rimidyl which is a prescription med. We also put a teaspoon of turmeric powder, 5 shakes of black pepper and a half teaspoon of coconut oil on her food.

When we rescued her, she was 18 months old and already manifesting signs of moderate hip dysplasia. The vet took x rays and said she would probably be totally disabled in another year and a half and need to be put down. With this regimen, plus lots of walking, we have been able to enjoy her for many years. She will be 11 in April this next year. She's a little gimpy, but still loves her walks and has glossy fur and bright shiny eyes. The turmeric makes a big difference when given with the black pepper and coconut oil. Good luck!

Turmeric and pepper are great especially combined with Boswellia. If it were my dog, I'd do this:

:wall: Hi Doc! The link you posted no longer works.
I have a 115 lb. pitbull dog who is such a love (and won't loose weight no matter what I've tried, since she was spay). She's 6 years old now. When she was a year old she was running full out, in the woods, and landed in a huge hole in the ground and running her right shoulder and chest into a big tree branch that was down. Ever since she's had a limp off and on. She licks that leg and paw and will have crocodile tears at times. What can I do???
