For those that don't know, Apoquel is an allergy medication.

SOme dogs have food allergies. Try an elimination diet first for a few weeks. Use a food with ingredients the dog has never seen (no chicken, beef or corn). Get something odd like lamb and rice or duck and pea or venison and asparagus...Such diets are available at PetSmart, PetCo etc... Give nothing else to eat so that you can assess whether the diet change is having an effect or not. You'll know within a few weeks if the diet is changing things for her or not. If not, you can assume she has allergies not related to food and go back to your regular diet.

If the elimination diet doesn't work, try these herb formulas one at a time. Give each formula a week or so to see if it helps. Here's the protocol:

Histamine Formulak alone: 1-2 teaspoons three times daily for a labrador-sized dog, 1/4 teapsoon for a chihuahua, for other sizes adjust dose accordingly.

If no change, discontinue and try...

Skin Formula alone: 2 times daily.

If no change, try both formulas together 2-3 times daily.

Sadly, many dogs with plant allergies are also allergic to the herbs so we don't get much benefit on those kids.'s worth a try.
