The UV absolutely destroys the value of the material.

The stuff that grows on our place has a warm, buttery, mineral rich flavor.

It grows in the high deserts of mid to southern Utah and some neighboring states. Ephedra is the genus.
E. nevadensis, E. viridis are the ones that grow in this area.
