I do not know of any benefits of drinking black tea.

Of course it's beneficial to health. Studies have shown those who drink herbal or medicinal teas live a longer life. Black tea has antioxidants.

Black tea has TONS of tannins and other things that are not good for the body too.

Lots of medicinal herbs are high in tannins, one of the things that makes them effective. We will have to just agree to disagree on this one.

As a sidenote: my mother swears by applying black tea to the nipples of pregnant and nursing mothers, to help toughen them up. She says it worked for her. I found vitamin E oil to be better for me, though.

Medicinal plants with tannins are typically for short term usage. Tea is used as a daily and sometimes multiple times a day for long periods. That makes the tannins much harder on the body.
