Any tips on mixing herbs?

For instance, if I wanted to make a healing salve that would both heal and relieve pain, would I add in both plantain and calendula/willow bark/wild lettuce? Or would this have any negative effects?
Thanks in advance.

I think that would be fine. You just need to make sure you do not dilute the primary purpose too much.

I like to combine herbs that have similar effect. For example, relaxing, stimulating, wound healing, aphrodisiacs, pain killing

EVOO = extra virgin olive oil (Gallo)
VCO = virgin coconut oil (Grace, cold pressed)

WS: Wounded Soldier: Heals wounds, moisturises skin and scalp: 20 herbs, 6g X 20 herbs in 330ml EVOO, 330 ml VCO, 330 ml melted raw Shea butter, 180g beeswax. Apply into wounds and onto skin and scalp.

Aloe, burdock, calendula, chamomile, chickweed, comfrey, geranium, horsetail, lavender, lemon balm, lemon Peel, marshmallow, mullein, oat straw, pau d'arco, plantain, slippery elm, St John wort, witch hazel, yarrow.

One thing to consider when combining herbs, especially when also combining desired effects, it the more herbs there are the less each herb has to do with the desired result.

Remember that each herb does more than one thing. Find a plant that does multiples of the things you are trying to accomplish.

SS: Soothing Suds: Liquid soap. Clean skin and hair: 20 herbs, 6g X 20 herbs in 1L of olive oil, 225 ml coconut oil, 225 ml castor oil. Dissolve 260g KOH by adding it slowly to 800g hot glycerine. In slow cooking ceramic crock pot, add dissolved KOH in glycerine to 1.5 L of oil infused with 120g of 20 herbs. Use stick blender to blend to trace.

Aloe, burdock, calendula, chamomile, chickweed, comfrey, geranium, horsetail, lavender, lemon balm, lemon Peel, marshmallow, mullein, oat straw, pau d'arco, plantain, slippery elm, st john wort, witch hazel, yarrow.

I use a $30 Oster blender, 1.5L capacity glass jug, 700w, 12 speed, can blend hot liquids. Walmart sells them. Must clean blender after each use. Rubber ring may need to be replaced.

I did not want to waste shea butter in soap which is simply washed off with water. This liquid herbal soap cleans without drying out the skin.

Idaho I seek synergy among several herbs. Also, I select herbs that are moisturising and clinging to the skin. When I make aromatherapy products, I select herbs that heal the respiratory tract

Sometimes I will feature herbs that contain at least 5 times the weight compared to the other helper herbs.

For example my intense orgasm recipe features cardamom and damiana:

EVOO = extra virgin olive oil (Gallo)
VCO = virgin coconut oil (Grace, cold pressed)

IO: Intense Orgasm, Libido: 17 herbs, 50g cardamom, 50g damiana, 6g X 15 herbs in 500 ml EVOO, 500 ml VCO, 180g beeswax. Snort a little through each nostril hours before and just prior to sex.

Anise seed, *ashwaganda, caraway, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, coriander, *damiana, ginger, *ginkgo, lavender, *nutmeg, peppermint, plantain, slippery elm, thyme, white pepper.

Black pepper can be used instead of white pepper though black is more harsh.

--------------------------------------------

I did something similar for an aromatherapy stimulant I call Tea and coffee:

In TC I feaure Coffee and matcha:

TC: Tea and Coffee: Stay awake: 14 herbs, 50g matcha, 50g coffee, 8g X 12 herbs in 500 ml EVOO, 500 ml VCO, 180g beeswax. Snort a little through each nostril several hours before bed time.

Astragalus, black pepper, coffee, **(eucalyptus), (ginkgo), gotu kola, **lemon peel, matcha, orange peel, *peppermint, plantain, rosemary, slippery elm, thyme.

:)

I am planning a herbal remedy for internal and external pain

I could post my plans before execution. What I have posted has been cooked in my kitchen at home

I have yet to cook and snort the following. I hope the amount of pepper is safe for snorting.

I will post my experience with this recipe soon!

KP: Kill Pain: Muscle rub, pain killer: 18 herbs, 33g catnip, 33g marjoram, 33g Chilli pepper, 6g X 15 herbs in 500 ml EVOO, 500 ml VCO, 180g beeswax. Snort a little through each nostril just before bedtime. Rub on neck, chest, temples, sore muscles and joints.

Black pepper, catnip, chamomile, cramp bark, dill, lavender, lemon balm, linden, marjoram, mullein, passion flower, peppermint, plantain, skullcap, slippery elm, St John's wort, thyme.

When mixing herbs I prefer to use dried herbs. Fresh herbs shorten shelf life. I liquefy 200g of herbs in 1.5 L oils in a blender.

I use alcohol to sanitize the containers and lids before I pour product into them.

I never use essential oils.

When doing aromatherapy, I heat wax infused with aromatic herbs! Just a range and a ceramic pot. No expensive diffusers/nebulizers, essential oils!

I hate to rain on your parade, but the herb names you've listed consitute "making a claim" and are in violation of the FDA. If they catch you, they won't be happy.

No claim of any kind can be made unless you have gone through the FDA process.

@ Doc Jones I am well aware of the oppression of herbalists by the FDA. I am supposed to acquire a therapeutic number from the therapeutic products directorate in Ottawa, Canada
